Any advice on which one I should try next? If this is the worst Paradox and Kerb have to offer I have struck gold! I will definatly be buying SOTS prime very shortly as well as dip into some of these other games. The bugs dont really bother me because the game, for me, is that fun. But I can play a match and have a good time doing it. Is it perfect, not even close but in my opinion it is fun as hell as it is now! Does it crash, yes lots. Once the game clicked with me, like the poster above, im having a hard time putting it down.
But I found some very good advice on these forums no how to play.
The quick start guide tells you different info than the larger manual (The money pie color definitions for example). But SotS2 looked so good in my opinion I chose to buy it regardless of reviews and warnings. I did research on this game before hand and knew its history. I purchased SotS2 last week and have dumped 55 hours into it. I am new to this forum and new to Paradox games. So far I've got near 300hrs with SoTS2 across two computers. Reload game, proceed till turn 300-700 (record game so far has been 754 turns, average game is around 300-400 turns).Ĭurse AI for their many MANY ships and try to beat it to LV's hehe. Use sqlitebrower and give each AI 1billion credits. Start research (typically an energy weapon) Set taxes, turn off subsidies, adjust finance wheel to my liking.īuild 1 prototype so I can build it fast if I need toīuild 7 colonizers and if I can afford it, 3 more construction ships Spend the first turn redesigning at least the combat ship (make mk2 version), depending on who I face I may also redesign the colonizer, and CNC ship. Sometimes I also take 9 worlds (if I want a quick and dirty fight pretty early) (ie I'm feeling combative), otherwise I stick with 3 worlds (oddly enough I like this better because it lets me build up my infrastructure solidly while starting with 9 worlds always feels kinda flimsy) Give AI 10 techs and 1mil bonus and 9 worlds I used to pick their colors and such, but anymore it's random (to many games played to be bothered anymore lol) Pick opponents (2-3 AI depending on map, sometimes I might go for a 6 player map) If you want perfect, and are of the variety of "my cup is half empty" then wait a month or so, if you are "my cup is half full" type, then you'll enjoy yourself. and I'll counter point and agree with Kohlrabi.
